The Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus appears to be peaking in our community. We want to assure you that at FACES we continue to make your safety and well being our priority. We have diligently followed all directives from the Mississippi Department of Health for medical offices. This includes continuing to wear masks when in direct contact with patients. We also encourage you to wear a face covering while in our clinic when not being treated. We continue to use physical barriers at the front desk and supplementary HEPA filtrations units in all areas of patient care, as well as the reception area. Foam hand sanitizers stations are now a permanent fixture in our building, as is our HVAC system with sterilizing ionizers.
We are frequently asked about the vaccination status of our employees and freely share that we are 100% vaccinated. During these challenging times we hope you know you can count on FACES to continue to provide you with the most up to date and reliable information available regarding medical practices in Mississippi.

As we go into what appears to be another wave of COVID infections, I thought it would be prudent to update you on our continued efforts to keep you safe when visiting FACES. We continue to wear masks when in direct patient contact as is required by the Mississippi Department of Health for medical offices. We also continue to use physical barriers such as plexiglass at the front desk areas. We installed sterilizing ionizers in our HVAC systems when we built our clinic and have since added supplementary HEPA filtration units in each of the patient care areas, reception area and meeting rooms. Easy to reach foam hand sanitizer stations are available in multiple areas throughout the building for your convenience. Our employees are encouraged to be vaccinated. And we encourage you to be vaccinated as well if you have no contraindications.
As stated in the introduction to this page, we hope you know that you can count on FACES to provide you with the most reliable and up to date information in regard to visiting our practice. Your safety and well being is our priority.

There have been numerous reports in the news media about patients with dermal fillers having a reaction to the COVID-19 vaccine. I am writing this so you will know the facts. The Moderna vaccine trial had 30,000 patients enrolled and 2 of them reported swelling and inflammation at the site of a previous dermal filler injection. One patient had filler injected 2 weeks before receiving the vaccine and another had filler 6 months before. Both patients received treatment with oral steroids, anti-histamines, or both and the swelling resolved within a few days in both cases. The Pfizer vaccine trial did not have any reported cases of dermal filler reactions. In my opinion, this is likely to be similar to the well- known, but uncommon, “delayed or late” filler reaction that occurs in association with viral illnesses in some patients with pre-existing dermal fillers. While the incidence of this reaction is not reliably established, it is not common, and is readily treated with oral steroids.
So what is my advice on this? I would not hesitate to get either vaccine if I had dermal fillers. The fact that no cases were reported in the Pfizer vaccine trial does not make me think that it will not happen with that vaccine either, since both vaccines, hopefully, induce an immune response, and the immune response is almost certainly what leads to inflammation at the site of a dermal filler. We do not know what causes the inflammatory reaction with dermal fillers in the case of the so-called “late reactions” previously noted and we probably won’t understand this for some time, but regardless, it is readily treatable!
If you are contemplating getting both dermal fillers and the vaccine, I might wait on the fillers for a few weeks after the 2nd dose of vaccine to allow some time for the immune system to return more to normal. If you are a patient who experiences swelling, redness and tenderness at the site of a dermal filler injection, regardless of whether you have had a COVID vaccination, you should contact the person that performed the injections as soon as possible. If you cannot contact that person, we are happy to see you at FACES, but you will have to be seen in person before you can be treated if you are not an established patient.

In the best interest of our patients, community at large, staff and their family members, Faces, pllc has adopted the following Covid-19 precautions upon reopening:
- Because of social distancing mandates, we will be taking measures to avoid multiple patients being in our reception area at the same time by staggering appointment schedules and allowing you to remain in your vehicle until your room is ready.

Friends of FACES,
We tentatively plan to re-open Faces on Monday, May 4th, if given clearance by state government officials. In order to keep both our patients and employees safe, things will look a little different once we do re-open. In addition to our strict hand hygiene, we will be wearing masks during face to face encounters. We will also be taking measures to avoid multiple patients being in our reception area at the same time by staggering appointment schedules and allowing you to remain in your vehicle until your room is ready. We have instituted Telehealth visits and we will continue to offer this service for those who feel that this would be appropriate for them. We ask that if you are ill or have been recently exposed to someone with symptoms of COVID-19 that you please reschedule your appointment.
Because of social distancing requirements that remain in effect, we will not be able to host our Spring Open House that is scheduled for April 30th, but we will be featuring a one day only phone-in sale in its place. Same great savings – stay tuned for details!
In the meantime, and until we see you again, options are available to purchase products and gift cards by phone or online. Please feel free to call our office at 601-607-3033 between 10am and 2pm should you have any additional questions.
Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you soon.

At the direction of the MS DOH, Faces will be closed for regular appointments until further notice. While this may seem extreme, it is critical that we all take the necessary precautions to reduce the spread of COVID-19. As a medical practice we will continue to monitor the latest information from the WHO, CDC and our own DOH to make decisions in the best interest of our patients, community at large, our staff and their families.
We appreciate the fact that many of you plan in advance for procedures and treatments, and we will continue to work diligently to reschedule and accommodate each of you the best we can. Many thanks to those patients who have been so very understanding thus far.
Beginning Thursday, March 19th we will be available from 10am – 2pm, Monday through Friday by phone or email only. We will also be offering curbside pick-up service for product and gift cards orders during those hours.
Our tentative plan at this time is to re-open for appointments on 4/1/2020. This of course is subject to change. COVID-19 is a rapidly spreading and somewhat unpredictable disease, and it will require our collective efforts and, yes, some sacrifices, to lessen its impact so we may all return to our normal lives as soon as possible.
We will continue to stay in contact via social media and email.
Thank you and take good care.

All of us at Faces share your concerns about the novel coronavirus pandemic. We are monitoring the World Health Organization, CDC, and Mississippi Department of Health for the latest information.
You may rest assured that our office is following all the guidelines, recommendations and regulations as we receive updates.
We are prepared to close our office and follow any quarantine guidelines as they come available, if needed in these coming weeks.
While we continue to practice universal precautions and observe strict sterilization practices as we always do, we are taking extraordinary measures to disinfect the common areas in our office as well.
To protect you, we are asking our own staff to stay home if they have any symptoms suggestive of a cold, flu, or respiratory illness.
We are also asking that if you have traveled within the past 14 days to an area with known community transmission or if you have been potentially exposed or experience flu-like symptoms to please reschedule your appointment at our office.
If you are feeling sick, we suggest you contact your primary care physicians or local hospitals for screening and treatment.
If you have questions or concerns, know that we are here to assist you in any way we can.
Thank you for your understanding and please stay healthy.
