Dr. J. Randall Jordan, Double Board-Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon near Jackson, MS
The facial plastic surgeon you choose is important if you want to achieve the best results and have a comfortable experience. Patients who choose a board-certified facial plastic surgeon can rest assured that their procedure will be performed to the highest standard of care.
Although any practicing physician can legally perform cosmetic surgery, those certified by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery must undergo extensive training. They must also pass rigorous examinations to demonstrate their mastery of the field.
At Faces in Ridgeland, MS, we’d like to introduce you to Dr. J. Randall Jordan, one of our double board-certified facial plastic surgeons who is dedicated to patient satisfaction and has a passion for educating others.
Why Dr. Jordan Chose Medicine and Facial Plastic Surgery
Dr. Jordan knew he wanted to get into medicine early in his life. His family is made up of a long line of physicians, but what really drew him to medicine was the intersection of technology and science, and the many opportunities to help others. To Dr. Jordan, surgery seemed like an obvious fit.
What attracted Dr. Jordan to facial plastic surgery was the challenge he saw while completing his residency, and the way it allowed him to take natural beauty and make it even better. One of the best rewards you could ever hope for in any profession is helping someone feel better about themselves, and Dr. Jordan felt he could do that every day whether it was by restoring beauty to an aging face with a facelift, achieving better facial harmony with a rhinoplasty, or helping a child avoid teasing through otoplasty, and more. He considers it a privilege to perform facial plastic surgery as his lifelong career.
Dr. Jordan's Facial Plastic Surgery Philosophy
Half of Dr. Jordan’s time is spent performing facial plastic surgery procedures at Faces in Jackson, MS, and the other half of his time is spent as a professor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMC), where Dr. Jordan has the privilege of teaching both residents and medical students. Most of his work at UMC is focused on reconstructive plastic surgery.
One of Dr. Jordan’s greatest passions in life is teaching others, which also has the added benefit of keeping him continuously learning about the latest advancements in surgery and medicine.
The core of Dr. Jordan’s philosophy is that we should begin each of our days with the intent to improve what we do, and we should strive to learn something new each and every day.
Dr. Jordan is originally from Pensacola, FL and did his undergraduate and medical training at the University of Florida. There, he also completed a comprehensive five-year residency in Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery. After this residency, he did an additional year of training in a Facial Plastic Surgery fellowship with Dr. E. Gaylon McCollough. It was a prestigious opportunity to learn and gain experience at the well-respected McCollough Plastic Surgery Clinic, located in Birmingham, AL.
Dr. Jordan practiced in Tallahassee, FL until 2002, when he joined the faculty at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he’s currently a professor, vice chairman, and medical director of the Department of Otolaryngology and Communicative Sciences.
Dr. Jordan is married and has two college-aged children, both of whom have their own interesting and exciting lives. He and his wife, Allison, live in Madison, MS with their miniature dachshund. When he is not at the office or hospital, Dr. Jordan loves to work in the yard, travel both in the US and abroad, take advantage of the plentiful outdoor activities in our beautiful region, and go saltwater fishing and bird hunting.
