AccuLift Laser Liposuction near Jackson, MS
Age, weight fluctuations, and genetics are the primary reasons people develop the dreaded double chin. As we get age, the skin produces less structural proteins—primarily collagen and elastin—which causes the extra skin to sag and accumulate in certain places on the face, such as under the eyes and on the neck. Losing or gaining weight can also contribute to accumulated or leftover stubborn fat deposits that gather along your jawline and underneath your chin. A double chin, known as “submental fat” among facial plastic surgeons, is one of the most common reasons people seek cosmetic surgery and related treatments.
According to a recent survey conducted by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, more than 2/3 of the people surveyed reported being bothered by fat beneath their chin. Some people opt for Kybella®™ injections on the neck and chin, but this treatment can’t address excessive fat and loose skin in the same way as surgery.
Double chin removal is achieved in some ways with facial plastic surgery, and we’re pleased to offer AccuLift™, a new form of laser neck liposuction that’s quick, minimally invasive, and has much less downtime than a complete facelift procedure. It’s a way to eliminate submental fat while also helping to tighten the skin and create a refreshed, youthful-looking neck silhouette.
Although it shouldn’t be considered a replacement treatment for more complex facial plastic surgery, AccuLift does offer some of the results you might experience from facelift or neck lift surgery without having the incisions and recovery time associated with traditional face and neck lifting. You can expect to see the benefits of AccuLift for as long as a decade after your procedure.
How Does AccuLift Work?
For more than two decades, Faces has brought some of the latest aesthetic technology to the Jackson, MS area. We love being able to use technology for patients who would rather skip invasive facial plastic surgery procedures or who simply don’t have the time for a lengthier recovery. AccuLift is a relatively new way to perform what’s called laser lipolysis, also commonly called laser liposuction.
Laser lipolysis is the process of using concentrated light energy, a laser, to melt away fatty tissues. After the fat cells have been melted, they can be naturally metabolized by the body or removed manually using a surgical cannula.
During an AccuLift procedure, small openings are made by the surgeon in the targeted areas of the face. These small openings are no bigger than the size of a needle (about 1mm-2mm). A laser probe (called the AccuSculpt™ laser) is inserted into these tiny openings and is used to heat and melt fatty tissue. A patient’s facial contours can be ideally sculpted with AccuLift, and this procedure also produces skin tightening effects from the heating process. Collagen production is boosted during the healing process to promote ongoing rejuvenation.
What Are the Benefits of AccuLift?
Convenience and the cost of AccuLift make it an attractive cosmetic procedure. AccuLift is usually completed as an in-office procedure in about 30 minutes to an hour. While AccuLift will not produce the same results as a facelift or neck lift, it can be a quick, effective way to look years younger and dramatically reduce excess fat in the neck area.
In general, men and women seek AccuLift to improve the appearance of:
- Turkey neck
- Double chin
- Loose skin under the chin
AccuLift also produces very little bruising and swelling and has a pretty mild recovery period. Most patients can return to their normal day-to-day routine within a few days.
Frequently Asked Questions About AccuLift
Although the treatment time for AccuLift is quick and much less invasive than a traditional facelift, it is still a minor surgical procedure, and there will be some downtime. You will experience light swelling and bruising immediately after your appointment. Swelling should go away between 5-10 days. Bruising will clear up within 1-2 weeks.
You can go home after the appointment, but you must have someone drive you home. Follow the post-op instructions we give you for any medications and wear the compression garments we send you home with, as recommended, to get the best results. Avoid vigorous exercise and activities following your appointment for at least a couple weeks.
Patients generally report very little discomfort during an AccuLift laser neck liposuction appointment. Before the procedure is performed, we will use local anesthesia and a mild sedative that can be taken orally depending on your comfort level. During your visit to our practice, we place your comfort and safety at the top of our priorities. Tell us during your consultation if you require any other special accommodations.
AccuLift can be performed as a standalone procedure, but it’s commonly done in conjunction with other cosmetic surgeries and treatments. Depending on the new look you’re trying to achieve, you may choose to combine AccuLift with dermal filler injections, or as an add-on procedure performed alongside another facial plastic surgery procedure, such as blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) or a short incision facelift. AccuLift is also a popular touch-up treatment for people who have had a facelift in the past.
